In order to be up to date in the fields of thought and political condition, publicize public opinions, raise the quality of teachers and students and improve campus comprehensive management, the university has set up the campus culture to be in the spirit of humanity and scientific activities. To improve the communication among the faculties and strengthen the unity and deepen harmony among the teachers and students, various sports, activities are held, such as an entertainment performance, a scientific festival, a culture and art festival, a painting and calligraphy exhibition, a speech contest, debates, karaoke contests, a drama performance, an English sketch contest and so on. The university also has a table tennis team, a basketball team, a football team, a shuttlecock team and a dragon boat team. Also, among the teaching faculty there are five associations, such as badminton, painting and calligraphy, photography, Chinese chess, Weiqi and bridge.
         The construction of campus culture has gained much great achievement. The recreation group performed excellently many times in the city and the province. In the National University Men Shuttlecock contest, the team won fourth prize in the Fifth Sports Dancing Championship of Hubei Province, the group won second prize in Group A, the women’s basketball team won first prize in the Women Basketball Competition at the first sports meeting in Yichang; The teachers’ table tennis team gained the first prize in Hubei Universities’ Table Tennis Contest, and one second prize and one third prize in the performance of provincial universities. In the national and provincial “Challenge Cup” Students Creative Works Contest, the students won one third prize and two second prizes, and won the third prize in the Sixth China Chorus Festival; the teams won the fourth and third prize in the Third International Dragon Boat Rally Contest Straight Road and 39 kilometres Rally Contest respectively; the students also won other prizes including the excellent prize in the “Lanting Cup” National University Students Calligraphy Contest, second prize in the First Provincial Bashan Dance Contest, third prize and fifth prize respectively in Hubei Province University Students Basketball Competition and the First Track and Field Sportsmeeting. The university student social practical activity also gained rewards from the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League.
            China Three Gorges University has already established cooperative relationships with more than 20 universities in countries such as France, Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Britain and so on. The cooperation extends to teaching, scientific research and student exchanges. At present, cooperation has made great progress, including “ Dynamic Detector” jointly-developed with the University of Blaise Pascal, France, “Hydraulic Development Research” collaborated with Berlin University of Applied Science, “Rock-Water Heat Coupling Research” with the University of Lille, France, “Reservoir Optimized Management Research” with the University of Twente, Netherlands; and “2+2 Undergraduate Program” with South Bank University, Britain, where students study the first 2 years on our campus and the other 2 years in Britain.
