           I. The letterform of the name of university: China Three Gorges University
This is the combination of Chairman Mao¡¯s handwriting, strong and powerful, outstanding and eminent, which embodies not only artistic style but also authority. .
II. The logo of the university: setting sail and pursuing knowledge
The symbolic meaning of the logo is roaming in the sea of books and pursuing knowledge, and all the teachers and students will do their best to realize their dreams.
         III. The day for commemoration:
         1. The university was originally founded in the town of Honghuatao, Yidu in September,1946 and was named Yidu Normal School.

         2. Every year on May 25th the whole university celebrates its founding. This is because on May 25th,2000 the provincial committee and government issued the message that China Three Gorges University could be established. This is a special day because from then on, a comprehensive university outside the capital of Hubei Province was founded. May 25th is also a good time for the alumni to return to Alma Mater so as to take part in commemoration activities because at this time breezes blow, flowers are in blossom and spring is at its full wings. What¡¯s more, in Chinese ¡°5.25th¡± sounds like ¡°wo ai wo xiao¡±, which means ¡° we love our university¡±.
          IV. Aims
          We will do our best to build CTGU into a nationwide provincial first-class comprehensive university, famous both at home and abroad.
          China Three Gorges University is located in Yichang City, hydroelectric capital of the world, a city famous for its tourism attractions and home to the construction of the Three Gorges Project. It has all the advantages of proper opportunity, favorable geographical location and good harmony. In the past years, CTGU has been at full vitality and developing fast, composing a florid picture of a university which combines both reform and development. It is certain that CTGU will reach its aim of being a nationwide provincial first-class comprehensive university, famous both at home and abroad.
           V. Slogans
           1. Having a foothold in Yichang, fusing into the Three Gorges Area, contributing to Hubei Province, gearing to the needs of the whole country, and going into the world

The slogans clarify the foothold, base, serving range and future aim of our university, and reflect the practical and ambitious spirit of all the staff and students. ¡°Three Gorges¡± in the slogan means the university lays stress on the development of hydroelectric engineering subjects and the Three Gorges Culture; and ¡°the world¡± means the university will inherit and draw on all the achievements human beings have made and contribute to the intelligence and power of developing the whole society.
          VI. Motto¡ªqiusuo, means exploring and studying
           The word qiusuo comes from lisao by QU Yuan, a famous patriotic poet. In his masterpiece, he wrote: ¡°Lu man man qi xiu yuan xi, wu jiang shang xia er qiu suo¡±. It means it is a long way for us to go before we reach the aim but I will try my best to explore.
The university takes qiusuo as our motto because it reflects not only the traditional cultures but also modern spirits, and it possesses not only the character of the Three Gorges but also brief and conciseness, which makes it different from other universities.
         VII. Main color: bright green, orange
         The color bright green indicates that the university lays stress on the development of hydroelectric engineering subjects and the Three Gorges Culture.
        VIII. The standard combination
         1. Logo: combination of bright green and white
         2. University flag: taking Chairman Mao¡¯s handwriting as the standard character style.
